About Totally Budapest
An independent, growing guide to Budapest — built page by page, with a focus on genuinely useful, practical travel information.
Totally Budapest started with a simple idea: most travel content about Budapest is either a shallow top-10 listicle or a wall of unstructured text. We wanted something in between — real depth on each topic, organised so you can actually plan a trip with it, without wading through filler.
We're not affiliated with any government tourism body, hotel chain, or booking platform. The guide is updated multiple times a week as we add new attractions, neighbourhoods, day trips and practical guides — if there's something about Budapest you think we're missing, we'd love to hear about it.
How we approach content
Every guide on this site is written to be genuinely useful on its own — practical details like opening hours, ticket rules and how to actually get somewhere, not just atmospheric description. Where something might change (a price, a schedule, an opening date), we try to flag that rather than presenting it as fixed forever. We also link guides to each other deliberately, so a page about a specific attraction connects naturally to the neighbourhood it's in, the transport you'd use to reach it, and anything nearby worth combining it with — the goal is a site you can actually plan a full trip from, not a collection of disconnected articles.
Where we're headed
This is a growing project. New attraction guides, neighbourhood breakdowns, day trips and practical articles are added several times a week, and we're steadily expanding into more languages beyond our current English core. Currently available in English, with German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese editions in progress.
